How Predictor works

A prediction game for any sports tournament. Configure your bracket, invite your players, let them predict, and the leaderboard handles itself.

Set up the tournament

Pick a template (e.g. World Cup 2026) for a one-click setup, or build a custom tournament from scratch — stages, teams, matches, joker caps, scoring rules.

Invite your players

Send your team a redeem link. They set a password once, then predict every match and answer your custom Tournament Picks quiz.

Watch the leaderboard

Enter match results, and points populate automatically. Each stage locks at kickoff, the bracket advances per your rules, and tie-breakers settle the final ranking.

Two scoring areas
Score Predictions
Predict the exact final score of every match. Per match: 3 for an exact score, 1 for a correct outcome (home/draw/away), 0 otherwise. Jokers double the awarded points for that match.
Tournament Picks
An admin-authored quiz the player answers once at the start of the tournament. Three question types: multiple-choice, numeric (e.g. "How many total goals?"), and team-pick (e.g. "Tournament winner?"). Locks at the first match kickoff.
Jokers

Each stage has its own joker cap set by your admin. A joker on a match doubles whatever points that prediction would have earned. The classic World Cup setup looks like this:

Your admin can tune these per tournament. Submit more jokers than the cap and the whole save is rejected — fix the count and resubmit.

Bracket flow

Knockout stages start with TBD slot codes (1A, 2B, 3CDFGH for thirds, W101 / L102 for winner/loser of a previous match). When your admin finalizes a stage:

  • 1A..2L slots fill from group standings (points → goal difference → goals for).
  • 3letters slots fill from admin-assigned best-third-placed teams.
  • W{n} / L{n} slots fill from the winners and losers of the previous round (penalty winners honoured for knockout draws).
Locks and tie-breakers
  • Per-match lock: each match's prediction freezes at its UTC kickoff. Other matches in the same stage stay editable.
  • Tournament Picks lock: Tournament Picks + tie-breaker freeze at the very first match's kickoff. After that, picks are visible to other players via the leaderboard's eye icon.
  • Per-stage availability: a stage opens for predictions only after its prereq is finalized by the admin.

Ranking: highest total points wins. Tie-break is the closest total-goals guess to the actual total (computed only once every match has a result). Older account wins a final tie.

Fair play
  • Every save is server-validated and audit-logged with timestamp + user.
  • You can edit a prediction any number of times before lock — only the latest version counts.
  • Other players' picks are hidden until each match's own kickoff. Tournament Picks are hidden until the tournament's first kickoff.
  • Scoring is fully idempotent: the admin can recompute at any time.
